If you want high self esteem, one surefire way is by sharing your story with others. This is one of my answers to the question:

“Why do you share your story?”

Indeed, I believe in sharing your story or stories is a vital part of recovery and getting high self esteem and confidence. Of course, it leaves you open to a lot of vulnerabilities, however, if you are like me and want to do things boldly, sharing your story can become a powerful growing tool for you.

Here is why you might want to consider sharing your story openly as I have.

Why Sharing Your Story Gives You High Self Esteem

Storytelling Is Fun

This might be because I write for a living, but I enjoy this style of writing. It’s my go-to style from the very beginning. But aside from that, it can be a lot of fun and it can help you in so many ways.

By airing out certain things, you can use it as a means of venting. Writing, in general, is therapeutic in of itself, but I know I’ve gotten more out of it than just that.

By recounting stories, I was able to look at things from a different angle and that has proved to be both fun and revolutionary to myself.

Sharing Your Story Means Accepting Yourself

Storytelling also helps a lot in that it prompts us to accept ourselves more. No doubt we’ve gone through a lot and some of us have done some stupid shit in the past. We’re not perfect beings after all.

But for those with low self esteem, they use those instances to bash themselves. They use that to fuel their inner critic.

Through storytelling – at least when I do it – I air out the things that I’ve done.

This, in turn, prompts me to accept these things. Sure, they are mainly positive things, but I’ve also had my share of trauma and mistakes in the past. We all have one way or another.

By accepting these things we can then start seeing things in a different light. For example, we can see all of that trauma as things that have led us to the life we have now. For me, it makes me thankful that I’ve gone through some rough times. It’s only made me stronger.

Not to mention it makes for some share-worthy stories.

There is nothing wrong with sharing your story.

It Helps You To Discover Yourself

One of the biggest things that storytelling does to give us high self esteem is that it helps you to discover who you are. I believe that a lot of people who lack self esteem or confidence is because they don’t know where they want to go. That or they are following a path that they don’t really want to follow.

As a result, people feel disconnected from what they truly want to become in life. I can speak from experience as I spent a long time pursuing a field I didn’t care for.

I know if I pursued it for longer I’d end up with something I didn’t want and would make me unhappy.

But because I choose to air that out or talk about some of my past, I was able to figure out what I did want to do in life. As a result, I now have a happier life because I’m doing what I truly want to be doing.

There are many benefits to telling your story to someone or writing it out.

Sharing Your Story

By sharing your story or writing it out for yourself, you too can achieve high self esteem. It is no walk in the park, however, it can seriously affect your life for the better if you don’t spare the details and let it all out.

Of course the medium you wish to present it is entirely up to you. Whether through a book, a multitude of blog posts, or even in a diary you keep for yourself. Either way writing things out and sharing your story can do you wonders.

To your development!
