Believing in yourself can be tougher than you might think. It’s not as simple as flipping on a switch when you first start out. While many people have been able to push through and have the utmost faith in themselves, the reality is they did a lot more than just flip a mental switch.

What so many confident men and women did was make a decision and went through a tough mental process. On extreme levels, the people who really understood the process went from nobodies to many of the self-made millionaires and billionaires alike. Or at least people of significant importance.

While not everyone is out there to be famous, belief in ourselves is key on so many levels.

Some of us want to get that promotion or raise.

Some of us want to muster the courage to speak up and state their mind.

Or maybe some people want the confidence to try something new and be vulnerable.

Either way, these things require us to believe in ourselves. You need to be believing in yourself if you want to be accomplishing these things in your life.

And it all starts by applying these 5 steps. They’re surprisingly easy to put on paper and apply, but take a lot of practice.

5 Easy Steps On How You Can Be Believing In Yourself Again

Talk To Yourself More

A lot of our belief in ourselves stems from our own view and reality.

With that in mind, it makes sense that our world revolves around what we tell ourselves. From there, it’s rather simple what our first step we have to take must be.

When we have a lack in our lives it stems from our firm belief in something.

When I struggled with money issues, the clear lack was money in my life. But that also impacted my own belief in myself in the ability to acquire and accumulate money as well.

The only way that started to change was when I started to put belief into my skills. For me that meant getting a clear idea of what I wanted to do, how to go about it and take action.

But while I was doing all that, the most important thing about all of this was that I was mentally onboard with this.

That meant embracing positive self-talk habits. Even today it is something that I do and stand behind.

Self-talk is extremely important and is very much connected to our core self. Specifically talking positively to ourselves provides a number of benefits but ultimately leads to us motivating ourselves. It’s through this motivation where we take action and become inspired and start to believe in ourselves.

Our belief in ourselves stems from our view and reality.

Our belief in ourselves stems from our view and reality.

Become Accepting

But talking positively is not the only thing that’ll lead you to believing in yourself. Often times we have a lot of mental noise and it’s tough to talk positively. I can definitely relate to that.

It’s hard to convince yourself and believe you have a healthy body if you look at yourself and you are pudgy or obese.

That’s where this step comes in and works in tandem. And it’s honestly becoming accepting of who you are and your overall current situation.

I’m someone who definitely wants to be in the positive and always be happy, but there is a fine line between that. There is a huge difference between being ignorant and being positive.

This step is here to keep that balance. Because what will truly change your life is not just the mere practice of a series of habits. It’s overcoming a huge obstacle in your way.

And that takes acknowledging the problem in the first place.

Yes it’s unpleasant, but the thing is is that everyone has problems and flaws. There is always something that we are missing and we are out there seeking it.

Just like with problems, one of the first steps is coming to terms with the issues that we have.

We all have problems, but we can choose wether to accept them or let them haunt us.

We all have problems, but we can choose wether to accept them or let them haunt us.

We all have problems, but we can choose wether to accept them or let them haunt us.

Find A Way Forward

When you start to talk positively and accept your situation, the next step falls into place. To start believing in yourself more you need to find a way to move forward.

As Martin Luther King Jr once said:

“If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.”

Martin Luther King Jr.

And he’s right. We always need to find a way forward and there always is a way forward. In so many cases it’s often blocked by our own mental barriers.

So with this step it’s where everything starts falling more into place. If you always finding a way to be progressing forward you’ll eventually find the right path for you to take.

Through positive self-talk you have the foundation to at least believe in trying things out a little bit. And by accepting your problems, you can start to seek solutions.

It’s through this step where you put everything you are learning into action.

What you’re doing may not be the right road that’ll lead you to victory, but I believe every avenue is worth exploring. Every mistake we make is a step towards where we want to go. And we go stronger with each passing attempt.

Do you know why I haven’t given up with achieving my ideal figure?

Well despite the fact that I’ve been going at this for literally years of my life, I haven’t given up because I’m still learning. I don’t want to give up because it’s something that I know I will get to eventually.

And through that journey I’ve tried many different things and it’s really taught me a lot in terms of my own health and how to go about certain things too.

Forgive Yourself

The fourth step to believing in yourself is to be forgiving yourself. Now, this might be in an odd place but I have a reason for it.

I see forgiveness in this instance as a way to enhance your belief in yourself.

The reason I think this is a fourth step is that while you are moving forward there will still be mental struggles. They won’t immediately disappear after you learn to deal with them.

People relapse and they can begin to doubt or hesitate or generally have negative thoughts.

It’s only human that we do that and that’s the point.

I feel that forgiving yourself loosens the harshness and severity of those things and that’s important. Even after years of not getting my ideal figure I am still working at it.

Some would say it’s crazy or foolish or outright pathetic I’m still going after that. And maybe their right. But what’s more important to me is that I don’t give up on it. That I believe in myself.

And sometimes that means forgiving myself when I make a decision I might not like. Or forgiving myself if I didn’t quite hit my goals.

There is always the next day and that’s more important. I’ve still got more attempts.

And sure that well is drying up as we get older, but that’s all the more reason to take what we learned and move with it. To try again and put in more effort. Or maybe.. just maybe…

Wait It Out

Wait it out and let the time flow. In other words letting life flow and push you for a little bit.

This final step is more of a reaction than anything else. Should you run into issues – which you might – then it’s worth asking if you should let life push you for a bit.

Action is great and it can lead you to many great things. But in some cases the best option is to learn to relax and do nothing.

And while this step seems counterintuitive to everything I’ve been writing thus far, keep in mind it takes a lot to sit and do nothing. Most of all it takes a lot of believing in yourself that you are going the right way. In the end, some things are worth the wait.

Time has a way of telling us many things if we pause and reflect. And we can start to really appreciate that when we are alone. It’s an opportunity to go back through those steps I mentioned above.

And while it may not lead us to doing a specific action, it can lead to other avenues to explore. We may have read something that helps us make better decisions in the future around certain topics. So it’s worth going back, pausing for the time being and seeing where life is leading you.

In the end we are the commanders of our lives and even if we’re letting life move us wherever, we are still in control.

Some things are worth the wait.

Some things are worth the wait.

Believing in Yourself

Believing in yourself is no easy task. It takes a lot of mental strength and confidence. But mastering these steps and knowing when and where to apply them can help immensely in your life.

To your development!
